Transponder Key
Programming

Transponder chip keys require more than just cutting — they need to be electronically programmed to your vehicle's immobilizer. We do both on-site, with dealer-grade tools.

What Is a Transponder Key?

A transponder key (also called a chip key) contains a small electronic microchip embedded in the key head. When you insert the key into the ignition, the vehicle's antenna ring reads the unique signal from the chip. If the signal matches the car's immobilizer system, the engine starts. If not, it won't.

This anti-theft technology became standard on most vehicles from the mid-1990s onward. It means a blank key cut to the correct pattern won't start the car unless the chip is also programmed — that's where we come in.

We carry chip blanks for all major manufacturers and have the programming tools to pair them with your specific vehicle's immobilizer, all done mobile at your location.

Our Programming Capabilities

  • Standard transponder chip keys
  • High-security sidewinder / laser-cut keys
  • Remote head keys with transponder
  • Add-a-key without original present
  • All key lost (no working key)
  • Immobilizer bypass & relearn

How We Program Your Key

1

Vehicle ID & Decode

We identify your exact vehicle and cut a new key blank to the factory specifications using our computerized key cutter.

2

OBD Connect

We connect our dealer-level diagnostic tool to your vehicle's OBD port to access the immobilizer system and prepare it for a new key.

3

Program & Verify

The new chip is programmed to your vehicle's immobilizer. We test start the engine to confirm everything works perfectly.

Transponder Key Questions

My car starts with the key but the security light stays on. Is that a transponder issue?+
Possibly. A flashing or solid security/theft light after the car starts can indicate an improperly programmed transponder, a failing chip, or an issue with the antenna ring around the ignition. We'll diagnose the exact cause before doing any work.
Can you program a key I bought online?+
Sometimes, but it depends on the quality of the blank and the chip type. Some aftermarket blanks have non-cloneable chips that won't work with our equipment. We recommend letting us supply the blank to ensure compatibility and avoid wasted cost.
I have no working keys at all. Can you still program a new one?+
Yes — this is called an "all keys lost" scenario. It requires additional steps including immobilizer data extraction and a full re-initialization of the security system, but we handle this regularly for most vehicle makes and models.
Does transponder key programming affect my warranty?+
No. Programming an additional key using OBD diagnostics does not affect your manufacturer's warranty. We're simply adding an authorized key to your existing system, the same way a dealer would.
