Ignition Repair
& Re-keying

Broken key in ignition? Ignition won't turn? We repair, replace, and re-key ignition cylinders on-site for all vehicle makes and models across the RGV.

Ignition Problems We Solve

The ignition cylinder is one of the most used mechanical components of your vehicle, and over time it wears out. Keys get stuck, the cylinder seizes, or a broken key gets lodged inside — all of these are ignition emergencies that need immediate attention.

We handle everything from simple key extraction and cylinder repair to full ignition replacement and re-keying (where we rebuild the cylinder to work with a new key, so you don't need to replace the entire ignition assembly).

If your ignition has been tampered with or compromised, we can also upgrade your ignition security to prevent future vehicle theft.

Signs You Need Ignition Service

Key Won't Turn

The ignition cylinder is worn or damaged internally. This often happens gradually — first it's stiff, then one day it stops turning completely.

Key Broke in Ignition

A worn key can snap inside the cylinder. Don't try to extract it yourself — our tools can remove broken key pieces without further damaging the cylinder.

Ignition Was Tampered

If someone attempted to steal your vehicle by forcing the ignition, the cylinder may be damaged or bypassed. We'll secure it properly.

Ignition Questions

How long does ignition repair take?+
Simple repairs like broken key extraction or cylinder lubrication take 15–30 minutes. Full ignition replacement typically takes 45–90 minutes depending on the vehicle. Re-keying takes similar time. We'll give you a time estimate before we start.
What's the difference between re-keying and replacing the ignition?+
Re-keying means we disassemble the existing ignition cylinder and reconfigure the internal tumblers to work with a new key — the housing and assembly stay in place. Replacement means installing a completely new cylinder. Re-keying is usually cheaper, while replacement is necessary when the cylinder is too damaged to repair.
My key turns but the car won't start. Is this an ignition problem?+
Not necessarily. If the key turns freely but the engine doesn't crank, the issue could be with the ignition switch (the electrical component behind the cylinder), a starter motor issue, or a transponder/immobilizer problem. We'll diagnose the exact cause on-site.
Can you match the new ignition cylinder to my existing door key?+
Yes. When we replace or re-key an ignition, we can typically key it to match your existing door locks, so you only need one key for the entire vehicle. Just let us know you'd like this when you call.
